Meeting the ECOWAS ROADMAP team at ID4AFRICA 2026

There is something irreplaceable about meeting your client team face-to-face, away from the structure of video calls, status decks and deliverables. ID4AFRICA 2026 offered exactly that kind of moment.

It was a real pleasure to catch up with Safiya ABUBAKAR BELLO and Victor Jeine BARA-HART, members of the client team for the ECOWAS ROADMAP project, for which I have the honor of serving as Team Lead. We took the time to exchange perspectives on the mission ahead and share thoughts on what comes next, in a setting far more informal than our usual working sessions.

These moments matter. They are not a luxury added on top of the project — they are part of the engine. Face-to-face conversations strengthen trust, surface the nuances that rarely make it into a written status report, and re-align everyone around what we are actually trying to achieve together. They remind every party at the table that behind the workstreams there are people, and behind the people there is a shared ambition.

Grateful to ID4AFRICA for creating the space where the continent’s digital community meets, connects and looks forward together. The atmosphere this year was a fitting illustration of the event’s own line:

“Pride has roots. Ours run deep — in Africa, for Africa.”

Looking forward to turning these conversations into the next concrete steps of the ECOWAS ROADMAP journey.
